Recreation & Community Activities Advisory Committee

The Rec. & CA Committee is a small voluntary group that advises Council on events and activities that residents would like to see in our Town.

It meets at least once a month, more often when needed, and presently comprises Chair Deputy Mayor Bruce Phiilps and residents Cathy Williams, Courtney Follett and Lori Foley.

For a Town of only just over 700 residents, we have a fairly active program.

We have four main annual events: GBM Day (on the third Saturday of August), our Fall Festival (over the weekend before Thanksgiving), Trunk or Treat each Hallowe’en and our Santa Claus Parade and Christmas Tree-Lighting event (on the first Sunday of December)

In addition, we have periodic Soup ‘n’ Social events for our seniors at the Recreation Centre, with home delivery for those who need it.

We hold regular Friday Coffee Houses (except over the Summer) and occasional Open Mic events, and we have a well-publicized program of visiting comedy and music acts.
